It seems like there were two different 2007s. The first one was the good one, mostly. I began working for myself in November, and I couldn’t be happier. I don’t even have to commute outside my bedroom. I pay my bills on time. All of my friends and family are happy and safe. What can $1.3 million buy?
A giant Christmas pageant. Instead, maybe the church could have sheltered 10,000 homeless people for the entire month of December. (At a fully-staffed shelter cost of $40/person per night.) Or, bought 18 Katrina-style trailers for families that need homes. Or, over 8,000 short tons of corn (less delivery) for a famine-stricken region at about $150/ton, or 417.25 cents/bushel. Or,...
